JOURNAL ENTRY

Hello Edu's community! Today is Monday, August 5th. It is currently 1:30 in the afternoon and it is a beautiful sunny summer day outside! This will be the second entry in my on going series of weekly journals where I discuss stuff I did during the past week. So without further adieu, let's get into it!

I did not do too much during the beginning of the week so I'm just going to skip over to Wednesday where I attended a local farmer's market. It was held at a local church in my hometown, there was a bunch of folks attending as the prices we're pretty cheap and there was also a summer camp for kids going on at the same time. This farmer's market was hosted by a food based organisation that do a lot of good work. As someone who is big into community stuff it naturally peaked my interest when I heard they were doing this. When I entered the church I was greeted by many friendly faces who were volunteering, plus there was a few organisations there too with booths set up. The main course (no pun intended) of the event was a big table set up with a lot of produce, there was a big line that I had to wait in to purchase said produce but it was worth it, I started chatting with the volunteers and other folk while I waited. When I was a kid, I just didn't realise just how valuable a really good conversation with a stranger could be. Anyways I just got few veggies while I was there, since I had plenty of food at home, all in all pretty good experience.

Next thing I did that week was take a nice hiking trip with family. It was a place we've been talking about for a while so this past Friday we finally drove to the spot and had a nice afternoon nature walk, plus there was also a fair going on at the time that we also checked out. However, before we get into all that I need to talk about something I witnessed before the trip had even started, right as I got out of the house and was walking across our front lawn, I noticed something in the grass. It was quite a sad sight but it was hard not to notice, unfortunately, a baby bird had lost its life and our front lawn was its final resting place. I understand things like this happen often in nature, but as an animal lover, it was still sad and made me kinda feel depressed. We had no idea what happened to the poor creature but judging by the body, they died recently and no mamma bird was found. again really sad, However I understand many things like this occur in this world, you can either let it get you down or continue your happiness, the choice is yours. After we got back from our trip we buried the poor baby and held a little mini funeral for it, rest in peace my feathered friend.

On a more uplifting note, let's talk about the day I had at the nature park. First thing me and my family did was go to a small community fair that was going on. I got this vegan sorbet from a food truck and It was so delicious! like oh my god it was tasty! Shout out Holy Batter from Toronto. We also visited a heritage house that was built in the 1800s, my brother is a science and history buff so he always loves going to stuff like that. Really fun local fair, The nature park was also nice, though the water smelled nasty, it was next to a lake. Got to enjoy some tasty food at a local pub near the pier though, they even had alternative meats like the veggie burger I had which I really enjoyed!

Lastly, what I did this week was visit my uncle's house for a good ol' family BBQ, I'll try not to share too much since I don't want accidentally doxx my whole extended family. Got to chat over some drinks with some family I haven't seen in a while, It was very nice especially since the weather calm that day. However, the real story happened when we we're just leaving and getting ready to go home. While me and my dad were packing the car, we spotted a fat chubby bird on the ground just being all cute. Something strange however was that it was'int flying away when we approached it, I could almost pick it up with my hands and It was just hopping around. My dad and me thought they may be sick or injured, but then the most wonderful thing happened. It was a mamma bird coming to feed the little chick. This bird was not sick or injured but in fact was a baby learning how to fly from mom. Let me just tell you how adorable it was to see the little chick chase its mom around, flapping its wings, trying so hard to lift it self of the ground. All that effort paid off in the end as the mom and baby bird flew up into the trees together. That endearing moment was quite the welcome addition to my week as I had just buried the last baby bird I saw. It was almost as If the birds were telling me, while tragedies happen, there's always miracles happening too, May who ever is reading this never forget that.

On that note, I'll leave this journal entry there, lots of ups and downs this week but hey, that's life. Good morning, good afternoon and good night everyone, hope ya'll have a fantastic rest of your day. Cheers <3
